SWAT Roundup International, Orlando 2008

What I'm reading: Dark and Dangerous, by Jeanne Adams

I promised some pictures of the SWAT Roundup. All I had was my point and shoot (but it's better than my phone), and access was restricted, so I couldn't get too close. Here's another batch. I'll keep posting over the next few days.

Lots of guys milling around, waiting -- check the back. See the guy with the stroller?

More waiting - big guns and gas masks

Weapons have to be checked and approved before the competition.

Waiting for the signal to storm the gate

They run

They fire

They rescue the hostage and carry it to safety.

(Is that really a baby stroller in the background??) Great pics. There's something incredibly sexy about men in camo, carring guns.

Katie, yes it's a stroller. Families were roaming the grounds, watching. One cute little girl kept saying, "fireworks?" because that's what the rifle range sounded like.

I didn't post my 'guys milling around looking hot' shots.

Gosh, those photos remind me of the good old days. Training was actually a lot of fun.

Thanks for dropping by, Lee (and I hope you're well down Recovery Road -- with my PC blown, my computer time is severly limited, so I haven't been able to keep up with The Graveyard Shift as often as I like).

These guys definitely seemed to be having fun, but they darn sure took the competition seriously. I feel better knowing there are people with the skills they need to keep us safe out there.

And why didn't you post the "guys milling around looking hot" shots?!

Saving those for another day, Jess.

Now Terry, it's not nice to tease.

Chudney -- Me tease? Moi? Never. No, not me.
