Several years later, we had the opportunity to travel to Germany with her, and she showed us some of the sights. (Note - these were taken in pre-digital days, and scanned a number of years ago. My skills with Photoshop are lacking, but I hope the images are satisfactory for computer viewing.)

I was an exchange student too, but I played it safe and chose England. :) No language barrier there!
So cool! Love the pictures. We had an exchange student stay with us when I was in HS and it was certainly an experience. She was from Antigua and even though she showered, etc. daily, she didn't use deodorant at all.
Elizabeth - my daughter was taking German in high school (although she said it was virtually useless--more a fault of the system foreign languages are taught in the school system, but being immersed in the language helped her learn to communicate quickly.
Katie - different cultures, different systems. My daughter gave up shaving her legs when she was over there.
Your field trips always take us to such interesting places. Beautiful photos.
