A few years back, the Adult Literacy League sent me to the national literacy conference in Tucson, Arizona. I had the pleasure of hooking up with an on-line crit partner (who, rumor has it, will be providing some of his own shots for a future field trip) for a day before the conference, and he showed me some of the sights. I think there's something beautiful in the stark desert landscape.
And I wish all you moms out there a Happy Mother's Day.

I absolutely love the southwest - the dramatic scenery, the dry heat. I could easily live there. Enjoy your Mother's Day.
Thanks, Wynter -- at least one of the kids will be stopping by. She's got a heavy workout that morning not far away and figures she can rest and eat. Which is true, as long as someone else cooks.
I haven't been out to Arizona in forever...thanks for sharing these pictures.
My pleasure, Debra - brought back some memories for me too
I've never been there but it does look pretty. Did you get to eat southwestern food? Don't mind me. I always ask about the food.
TerryS - The food was just fine--and the hotel had a tequila ceremony at sunset every night.
Tucson is pretty awesome. Happy Mother's Day to you!
Thanks, Carol - I think next week the field trip will be to my street.
I love these photos. My son lives in the NW corner of Arizona and some of the terrain is the same, but without that type of cactus. Beautiful country.
