I've always thought that Cleo's photos were total food porn! LOVE these pics, which are making me head to the kitchen as soon as I finish typing this.

Imagine how I felt dealing with getting the pictures, uploading them, creating the links ... major drooling. And now that I'm out of hot, sticky Florida, I'm going to give those clouds a try. Anything with a meringue base just doesn't work on hot, humid days. I recall a divinity recipe that started, "on a cool, dry day..." scratch that one off the Florida list.

Always enjoy Cleo's recipes. The photos do make your mouth water. Nice twist on the field trip.

Mason - and the recipes are so much more than just dry cookbook-ese.

I guess if my logline can be Romance with a Twist of Mystery, I can twist my blog too. Thanks for stopping by.

suddenly my homemade guacamole doesn't seem enough... :)

Yum! These look wonderful! I've got some zukes. I'm going to try those tonight. Thanks!

Jess -- Cleo's posts do instill a feeling of inadequacy, foodwise.

TerryS - let us know how they turn out!

Dutch Baby - I've seen them go by to other tables at the Original Pancake House. I prefer the Apple Pancake - share-zies, of course.

I can still make divinity in Florida but I carefully monitor the thermometer, barometer & hygrometer. Once the planets align I make as many batches as I can before conditions go south.

Vivian - things don't go much farther south than Florida! But I agree--if you're going to make divinity, it's not something done when you feel like it if you live there. You have to be ready for that perfect day. And if you miss it--there might not be another!

Jess - Hey, I'll take your homemade guacamole! I've got me a bag o' chips all ready for it, too. :)

TerryS - I hope you enjoy the Italian fried zukes. My hub cannot stand zukes but he loves them made this way. A pretty good testimonial. If you like eating veggies, you might try this one, too: Twilight Cauliflower (roasted with 20 cloves of garlic) - possibly anti-cancer, definitely anti-vampire! click here for Twilight Cauliflower recipe. and have a great weekend!

Vivian - ...and I do love a good stack of old-fashioned buttermilk pancakes at my local IHOP! Your divinity sounds divine to me (on the days you can make it, anyway).

TerryO - You are too funny - and (believe me) I have totally got everyone beat on the inadequacy front. It's a good thing I *can* cook because my house looks like a tornado hit it (on a good day), I dress like a refugee (zero fashion sense), and my sister is a beloved, admired and accomplished doctor. I love her too, but there's just no measuring up to that, LOL! :)

Hi Terry and Cleo, I just made the Italian zukes for supper. Big hit!

The tip about using butter and not using too much, really helped me, Cleo. This may be why, when I try to plain saute zucchini, they come out soggy. And the egg thing. Works great. Love it.

Checking out the cauliflower, next. Thanks! I do like veggies.

TerryS - thanks for the report. Will definitely try this next time I see decent zucchini in the store. Adjusting to what one can get (and the cost) in Colorado. And I don't think altitude would matter in this one.

And feel free to pass the link on to others -- I think this post would be something everyone will enjoy.

Wow, Terry..that strawberry pie photo is gorgeous. This was a very cool post and a very clever idea.

Pat - credit to Cleo for providing the pictures and recipes. And after her post on Tuesday, it was kind of a no-brainer!

Wow! I'm pretty sure I can taste these straight from the beautiful photos! yum!

Wonderful recipes and the photos are terrific. The strawberry pie reminded me of all the strawberry pies at Big Boy restaurants. That was the signature pie for that restaurant chain. My first job was with Big Boy. I was a carhop, but in the afternoons I worked in the kitchen making those pies. The nicest part was I could eat a strawberry now and then when the boss wasn't looking.

@TerryS - Woot! I'm so glad to hear that you liked the zukes - you are *the best* for dropping back and letting me know. :)

@Patricia and
@Jemi - Just saying hi back and thanks for your sweet comments. TerryO was a real sweetie for inviting me.

@Maryann - I am so excited to learn about your Big Boy experience! Love that you were a carhop!! That's fantastic! You are right on the money about my inspiration for this pie. I wrote an entire blog post on how (living in New York City) I missed the kind of strawberry pies that I grew up with at Big Boy (now Eat 'n' Park). So I did my very best to come up with a copycat recipe. If you want to read the post just Click here to see. My recipe is tasty enough, but I have to admit it's not exactly right yet. The Big Boy pie I remember so well is just incredible, and I'm going to keep working on the recipe until I get it right! (Do you ever watch Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Channel? I actually sent this recipe to Guy Fieri and suggested he do a segment on Big Boy/Eat 'n' Park! Who knows if he ever will, lol! :) Thank you so much for leaving that comment, Maryann. You made my weekend!
